London Brass - "Joy to the world" - Christmas with London Brass — Markuskirche Hannover, Hannover

Christmas tour "Joy To The World"

London Brass was founded in 1986 by members of the legendary Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and ranks among the most traditional brass ensembles in the world. Since its inception, the ten-member ensemble has lost none of its virtuosity and fresh approach. This was precisely the mission when the ten brass musicians set out in 1986: to cultivate the virtuosity and richness of classical chamber music for brass instruments while always presenting it with contemporary freshness. The ensemble consists of musicians from London's major orchestras. Many founding members gained extensive experience during their time with the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble, and through their concerts and outstanding recordings, London Brass has earned a reputation across Britain, throughout Europe, in the USA and Asia.

In the mid-1990s, London Brass ventured in new directions, adding a jazz trombone and trumpet to the lineup, which led to collaborations with artists such as Jango Bates, Mark Anthony Turnage, Mike Gibbs, Richard Rodney Bennett, Moondog, John Surman and Jack DeJohnette.

In recent years, the ensemble has performed in many European countries and at prestigious London venues: Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, Barbican, Westminster Abbey, Westminster Cathedral, St. Paul's Cathedral, The Old Whitehall & Banqueting House and Downing Street No. 10 - for major television productions including BBC Proms, the Millennium Celebration Concert, the Queens Jubilee and the papal visit. Since 2015, London Brass has performed at Wigmore Hall, the Newbury Spring Festival, and Trinity Laban Conservatoire's Kings Cross Cubitt Series. International tours have taken the ten British musicians to Italy, Poland, Russia, Austria and Germany. Summer festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Brandenburgische Sommerkonzerte and Kultursommer Nordhessen have been important concert venues in Germany since 2015, alongside regular performances in Munich and Frankfurt.
