Waltz Dreams to Open 2027
The Györ Philharmonic Orchestra returns in 2027 for the Viennese New Year's Concert "Best of Classic", performing in Potsdam, Neubrandenburg, Magdeburg, Suhl, Cottbus, Dresden and Halle.
Waltzes drift through the concert halls and ring in the new year with flair: the Györ Philharmonic Orchestra - one of Hungary's leading ensembles with an international reputation - performs from 4 to 10 January 2027 as part of the Viennese New Year's Concert "Best of Classic". True to the Viennese concert tradition, the 46-piece ensemble under Maestro Michael Waldemar Maciaszczyk presents a festive programme in three-quarter time, featuring waltzes, polkas and irresistible melodies.
With evident joy and technical brilliance, the orchestra blends lightness with elegance - the very quality that has always defined the famous Viennese New Year's concerts. Familiar tunes invite the audience to dream and hum along.
The Györ Philharmonic has built a remarkable track record over the years: as one of Hungary's major cultural ensembles, it performs on Europe's leading stages and is in demand internationally. The musicians and their Maestro gained particular recognition through their collaboration with legendary film composer Ennio Morricone, and through their nomination as resident orchestra for the Hungarian gala of the Operalia competition founded by Plácido Domingo.
With "Best of Classic", the organisers carry on a long tradition: since the late 1930s, the new year has been welcomed in Vienna - and far beyond - with festive music. Over recent years this custom has taken hold in all 7 cities, guiding audiences near and far into the new year.
Tickets for the Viennese New Year's Concert "Best of Classic" are available at all usual advance-sale outlets. Children up to ten years old pay just five euros when accompanied by an adult; pupils up to 16 years...
