20 Years of Jugendbarockorchesters BACHS ERBEN!

Thomas Cantor Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) never made the life of Jesus Christ the foundation of any of his compositions: there was neither a Sunday nor a liturgical feast day for which such a work would have had a place. In the Credo of the B minor Mass, however, there is a brief chronological account of several essential stages from the life of Jesus. Building on this movement, Raphael Alpermann, longtime artistic director of the Jugendbarockorchesters BACHS ERBEN, assembled an oratorio from various Bach movements that comprehensively reflects the path of Jesus Christ.

BACHS ERBEN performs this extraordinary work on the occasion of the ensemble's 20th anniversary, together with former and current singers of the Rundfunkjugendchor Wernigerode.
