Of Witches, Queens & Heroines

The band's live set features German-language poetry set to music and philosophical texts in English, all woven into jazz songs with plenty of groove and drive. Alongside original material, the programme includes covers of Tom Waits, Bob Marley and Joni Mitchell in fresh, idiosyncratic arrangements.

The singer has been drawn to the freedom and complexity of modern jazz. Together with her band she blends elements and colours from different styles with ease, treating her voice as an instrument on equal footing with the rest of the ensemble.

Her expressive, clear voice spans a wide range - from quietly moving simplicity to exuberant virtuosity - always in service of the song.

The quartet, with Edward Filipp on drums, Christoph Münch on piano and André Neygenfind on double bass, has been playing together in this line-up since 2010, and stands out for its communicative musicianship and compelling grooves.
