Arktos, a terrible snowman, seeks to cover the world in ice. The old dragon Tyrion wants to prepare his young son Tabaluga for his destined task - protecting the world. But first, Tabaluga must find the True Fire, for only then can he put an end to Arktos's schemes. Supported by a magician, Tabaluga sets out on his quest. Along the way, he faces many dangers, such as the spider woman Tarantula, but also discovers beautiful things.

Arktos wants to prevent Tabaluga from fulfilling his destiny and creates a beautiful creature from pure ice - the girl Lilli. Her only task is to distract Tabaluga from his search for the True Fire. Tabaluga falls in love with Lilli, just as Arktos planned, but through this he discovers a great and beautiful power: Love.
