Special Reading by Angela Merkel: "Freedom" - Memories 1954-2021

Angela Merkel reads from her memoirs "Freedom", written together with her longtime political advisor Beate Baumann. The book reflects on her life in two German states - 35 years in East Germany, 35 years in reunified Germany. She recounts her childhood, youth, and studies in East Germany, the dramatic year of 1989, encounters with world leaders, and the decision-making processes behind major national, European, and international turning points.
