The Golden Voices of Gospel - "The Sound of Joy"
Stadthalle Haßfurt, Germany
36 €
"Clap your hands...", "stomp your feet...", "shout Hallelujah..." - the audience will be invited to actively participate in the concert. Gospels, sometimes melancholic, sometimes rousing and spirited, backed by a fantastic rhythm section, touch the heart. These are church songs sung in the "Black Churches" of the USA and the Caribbean.
The Golden Voices of Gospel invite you on an exceptional journey through a century of spirituals, traditional songs, and gospels. This music expresses the spirit, pride, and devotion of the vast majority of the Black population of the USA like no other.
The breadth of musical repertoire from these charismatic voices reveals that the roots of nearly all the important "modern" musical genres of the last century - blues, jazz, rock, beat, and more - trace back to gospel music. Both contemporary gospel pieces and classics such as "Oh When The Saints", "Glory Glory Hallelujah", "Swing Low Sweet Chariot", "Motherless Child", "Joshua fit the Battle of Jericho", and "O Happy Day" invite listeners to experience the music together.
For decades, The Golden Voices of Gospel have been a powerful institution in Germany too. They supported Michael Jackson on "Wetten, dass...?", worked with Helena Fischer in the studio, and toured with André Rieu at Christmas - they have appeared in dozens of prime-time Saturday evening shows. Now The Golden Voices of Gospel present something special for this year's holidays: "Hallelujah" merges pop hits with gospel.
It is a union of two genres, a festive gathering of exceptional voices and traditions - this stylistic openness has always characterized gospel music: jazz, blues, and other modern styles have found their way into the songs for decades.
