Astor Piazzolla once turned the rules of tango upside down, freeing it from its folk origins and merging it with the expressive language of classical music and jazz. In this creative tradition, Nuevo Tango Quintet - led by celebrated French accordionist Félicien Brut and founded in the centenary year of the Argentine master's birth - will present a gripping reinterpretation of his music at Fagus-Werk in Alfeld.
Félicien Brut has assembled Piazzolla's favourite line-up, placing the virtuosic accordion front and centre while surrounding himself with extraordinary musicians. Thomas Enhco, a master of the piano, is known for his sensitive and energetic playing. Thibaut Garcia, a young guitar prodigy, already boasts a remarkable international career. Jordan Victoria, first violinist of the Arod Quartet, brings his mastery and passion for chamber music. Finally, Édouard Macarez, principal double bassist of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, completes this quintet with his solid orchestral experience.
These five accomplished musicians transport their audience to the heart of Buenos Aires' suburbs and immerse them in a vibrant atmosphere. The artists blend tradition and modernity, cross genre boundaries and offer a compelling tribute to the passionate and captivating world of Astor Piazzolla, where tango is lived and felt with rare intensity.
