SöndörgőXXX - 30 Year Anniversary - 18. Kultur im Kursaal 2026/27 - 26. AKKORDE — Kursaal Bad Säckingen, Bad Säckingen

26. AKKORDE - Guitar Festival on the High Rhine

For three decades, Söndörgő has been a defining force on the international world music scene. Their style merges the archaic character of traditional music with classical compositional craft, the energy of rock, and the thinking of Bartók. Four of the five members come from the same musical family: brothers Aaron, Benjamin, and Salamon Eredics, along with their cousin David Eredics. The spiritual backbone of the band is the legendary Vujicsics Ensemble, which has played authentic South Slavic folk music for nearly fifty years - fathers, uncles, and other musicians from the Eredics family. All four Eredics members teach at the Department of Folk Music at the Budapest Music Academy.

In 2024, Söndörgő released the album Gyezz with jazz saxophonist Chris Potter - it reached number one on the World Music Charts Europe and Songlines Top of the World, earning four-star reviews from Jazzwise and Songlines. For their 30th anniversary in 2025, the band was named Ensemble of the Season at Müpa Budapest, released the album XXX, and toured Europe and Japan, including a performance at the World Expo in Osaka.

The anniversary celebrations included a three-part curated residency at Müpa Budapest (2025/2026), reflecting Söndörgő's core musical identities of folk, classical, and jazz. Guest artists include Márta Sebestyén, the Balanescu Quartet, and Michael League, Chris Bullock, and Jay Jennings from Snarky Puppy. The live album In Residence at Müpa will be released in autumn 2026. Additionally, the band received a nomination for the Songlines Award for Best Album 2025 and was selected for a showcase at Classical:NEXT Budapest 2026.
