Founded by brothers Peter and Stephan Brings, the band has been through just about every high and low a musician can experience over the past two decades. By the late 1990s, with their famous fathers in the background - alongside Rolly Brings, that means vocal legend Tommy Engel and politician Norbert Blüm - it seemed their best years might already be behind them. Then, in 2000, they hit the jackpot with "Superjeilezick". This infectious power-polka has grown more popular with every passing year and is now one of the best-known songs in Cologne dialect, reaching far beyond the carnival season. "Superjeilezick" opened every door for Brings in Cologne's carnival stronghold, and the band entered a whole new era.

After that, the hits kept coming. Barely a carnival season has passed without a new crowd-pleaser from Brings. "Poppe, Kaate, Danze" (initially treated as a scandalous number, now one of the band's biggest crowd-pullers), "Su lang mer noch am Lääve sin", "Halleluja", "Dat is Geil", "Polka, Polka", and the reliably tear-jerking "Mama, wir danken dir" - all proof of how well Brings understand the moods and feelings of their audience. They also have a sharp ear for original cover versions: "Man müsste noch mal 20 sein" (an adaptation of a 1950s hit by Cologne stalwart Gerhard Jussenhoven) and the Zarah Leander evergreen "Nur nicht aus Liebe weinen" have both been given a fresh lease of life.
