Wolfgang Torkler - Solo
Coselpalais, Dresden, Germany

For many years, Wolfgang Torkler has followed a musical path of deceleration. Five solo albums, one trio and one duo recording document the evolution of this artist - originally from northern Germany, based in Dresden since the early 1990s.
This improvisation concert follows his principle of instant composing - creating music in the moment - with echoes of the masters he has studied: Keith Jarrett, Bach, and Rachmaninoff.
"When the music nibbles at the edge of inaudibility, when the sound structures approach the transcendental - that is pianist Wolfgang Torkler at work." - Klaus Hübner, Jazzpodium 11/2014
"Deceleration can be this sensual. A true balm. Highly recommended." - Rainer Molz, Monstersandcritics 05/2009
Proceeds from the concert go to Creative Connection for Communities e.V., an association that - under the motto "Creativity instead of crime" - supports children in the Kibera slum in Kenya through music, dance, art and culture, together with local partner Kibera Creative Arts (KiCA).
