Closing Concert of the 48th Meersburger Sommerakademie - "Sehnsucht" - Works by Bernstein, Mendelssohn and Vasks

A choir and orchestra made up of teachers from all school types across Baden-Württemberg perform under the baton of Yuval Weinberg, chief conductor of the SWR Vokalensemble, who has built a reputation across Europe for compelling programmes with professional choirs. From 2028 he will take up the post of chief conductor of the Rundfunkchor Berlin.

"Sehnsucht" (Longing) - in uncertain times, we reach for something to balance the weight of world events. Small counterweights, it turns out, can be the most powerful. This programme, spanning from the Romantic era to the 20th century, answers that call: give us peace!
