This concert evening puts young musical excellence at its centre. The EW-Jugendsinfonieorchester is assembled specifically for the Europäische Wochen festival, and for the fourth time outstanding young musicians from the festival region come together for an orchestral project of exceptional quality.

Under the expert preparation and direction of Margit Weinberger, the ensemble develops a shared sound marked by focus and genuine joy in playing. The soloist is internationally acclaimed cellist Andrei Ioniță, winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition in 2015.

The programme spans Elgar's ceremonial march from "Pomp and Circumstance", the elegant Annen-Polka by Johann Strauss (son), Shostakovich's vivid Suite for Jazz Orchestra No. 2, and Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme for cello and orchestra.
