Discover the Mudflats - Guided Wadden Sea Walk in Otterndorf

A guided walk across the Otterndorf mudflats - suitable for adults, families, and children of all ages.\n\nExperienced guides lead tours of one and a half to two hours through the Otterndorf Wadden Sea. Along the way you'll learn about the local wildlife: lugworms as tiny civil engineers, the telltale casts they leave on the mudflat surface, and how sea creatures hide from birds foraging at low tide. In summer you can spot oystercatchers; in winter, sanderlings are more likely. Armed with a fork, bucket and sieve, you'll also hear about the Otterndorf pumping station, the Elbe as a global shipping route, and the role of the dykes.\n\nIn cooler weather, bring sturdy shoes or rubber boots and weatherproof clothing; those with sensitive feet are advised to wear mudflat or water shoes (so-called "Beachies", available at the tourist information office). Bring something to drink as well. Tickets are available exclusively in advance and cannot be exchanged or refunded.\n\nNote for families: Both mudflat walks are family-friendly. The separate family walk is tailored specifically to children aged 4 to 8: a shorter route, less information, delivered more playfully, with more hands-on activities for younger kids. On the "standard" walk, guides also adapt to children in the group.\n\nAccessibility note: A non-motorised Wattmobil with large wheels allows people with limited mobility to take part.
