Discover the Wattenmeer - Guided Mudflat Walk in Otterndorf — Kiosk Seglertreff, Otterndorf

Discover the Wattenmeer | The ideal mudflat walk for everyone: adults, families, children & young people

Our experienced guides will take you on a one-and-a-half to two-hour mudflat walk through the Otterndorf Wattenmeer, revealing the hidden treasures of a fascinating world of animals and plants. Many things only become apparent on closer inspection...

For example, mudworms are tiny engineers who build the distinctive little mounds on the mudflat floor. All the small sea creatures hide from the birds, which feast abundantly on the seabed during low tide. In summer you can particularly well observe oystercatchers searching for food, while in winter sandpipers are more common.

Armed with forks, buckets and sieves, your guide will take you into this impressive natural landscape to show you this natural environment and explore it together with you.

Along the way, you'll learn not only (almost) everything about the North Sea and the Wattenmeer, but also receive plenty of information about the Otterndorf pumping station, the world shipping route Elbe, the importance of the dike and much more.

In cooler weather, remember to wear sturdy shoes or rubber boots and weatherproof clothing. If you have sensitive feet, we recommend wearing special mudflat walking shoes. You can purchase so-called "Beachies" at our Tourist Information Centre. It's also advisable to bring something to drink.

Tickets for the mudflat walk are only available in advance.

NOTE FOR FAMILIES:
Both guided mudflat walk offerings are suitable for families, and our guides always pay attention to the children participating. Our other family mudflat walk is simply more tailored to the needs of families with younger children (4-8 years). Children can do more on their own there (age-appropriately).
