AIGHETTA QUARTETT - Guitar Music from Spain and France — Portenkirche Fürstenzell, Fürstenzell

The Aighetta Quartet has been a fixture at international music festivals for decades. Founded in Monte Carlo in 1979, it gave its first concert in 1980. The ensemble gained prominence through its interpretation of Joaquín Rodrígo's "Andalusian Concerto" with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Monte Carlo. Concert tours followed across France, England, Italy, Hungary, and Germany. Anthony Burgess called the Aighetta Quartet's music "new and irresistible" when their first recording was released in 1987. Since then, the quartet has recorded several CDs, including a tribute to Bill Evans (Time Remembered) with jazz guitarist John McLaughlin and the complete works for four guitars by Anthony Burgess.

During their tours, the musicians have performed in many prestigious concert halls and theatres, including the "la Fenice" theatre in Venice, the "Palau de la Musica Catalana" in Barcelona, "la Salle Garnier" in Monte Carlo, the National Gallery in Budapest, the Gasteig and Munich Academy of Music, Brucknerhaus in Linz, the "Wigmore Hall" in London, "le Théâtre Antique" in Arles, "le Théâtre Dejaset" in Paris, Mirabell Palace in Salzburg, Teatro Ghione in Rome, and many other venues. "The Aighetta gentlemen: four outstanding virtuosos from the Segovia school, four individualists with fabulous ensemble spirit, who have challenged the natural boundaries of the guitar." - K. Bennert, Süddeutsche Zeitung (Feuilleton) / Gasteig (Black Box) / Munich.

The Aighetta Quartet's repertoire ranges from Baroque music to contemporary and popular guitar literature. Line-up: François SZONYI, Alexandre DEL FA, Philippe LOLI and Olivier FAUTRAT.
