AIGHETTA QUARTETT - Guitar Music from Spain and France

The Aighetta Quartett was founded in 1979 in Monte Carlo and gave its first concert in 1980. The ensemble gained international recognition through its interpretation of Joaquin Rodrigo's "Andalusian Concerto" with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo; Anthony Burgess described their music on the occasion of their first recording in 1987 as "new and irresistible". Since then, the quartet has recorded several CDs, including a tribute to Bill Evans (Time Remembered) with jazz guitarist John McLaughlin and the complete works for four guitars by Anthony Burgess.

The ensemble's tours have taken them to venues such as the "la Fenice" theatre in Venice, the "Palau de la Musica Catalana" in Barcelona, "Wigmore Hall" in London, Gasteig Munich, Brucknerhaus Linz, and Schloss Mirabell in Salzburg. Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote about them: "Four top-class virtuosos from the Segovia school, four individualists with fabulous ensemble spirit, who have taken up the fight against the natural limits of the guitar."
