Robert Lehrbaumer is one of the most versatile artists in classical music on the international stage. He works as a conductor, piano and organ soloist, chamber musician, song accompanist, educator, music advocate, composer, intendant, and lecturer. He studied at the Vienna University of Music under professors Schwarzbauer, Schwertmann, and Medjimorec (piano), Dr. Rudolf Scholz (organ), Otmar Suitner (conducting), and Thomas Christian David (composition).
Since the age of eleven, he has performed as a soloist with orchestras. He has worked as a pianist, organist, harpsichordist, and/or conductor with the Vienna Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony, RSO Vienna, Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Camerata Salzburg, Budapest Symphony Orchestra, Cappella Istropolitana, Martha Argerich Festival Orchestra Japan, State Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, Monterrey Symphony Orchestra, Lebanon Philharmonic Orchestra, Sydney Radio Orchestra, and many other ensembles worldwide.
Collaboration with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, André Previn, Yehudi Menuhin, Sandor Végh, Michel Plasson, Leopold Hager, and Hans Graf has been formative for him. As a conductor, pianist, and/or organist, he has worked with Walter Berry, Anton Dermota, Philippe Entremont, Adrian Eröd, Friedrich Gulda, Michael Heltau, Robert Holl, Renate Holm, Maresa Hörbiger, Mavie Hörbiger, Angelika Kirchschlager, Helmut Lohner, Fritz Muliar, Elfriede Ott, Erika Pluhar, Ildiko Raimondi, Wolfgang Schneiderhan, Bo Skovhus, Julia Stemberger, Katharina Stemberger, and many other soloists and orchestral ensembles.
The Austrian Federal President honored him with the title of Professor. He has also received the Grand Decoration of Honor of the states of Burgenland and Lower Austria, as well as numerous other awards.
