Neele Pfleiderer - Vocal Jazz Badisch

Freiburg-based jazz vocalist and 2022 ZMF Prize winner Neele Pfleiderer and London-born pianist Will Bartlett, who has made Freiburg his home, met shortly before the first lockdown in 2020 at a jam session. After their first rehearsal, it was clear: they wanted to continue working together.

Their programme blends modern arrangements of Alemannic folk songs from the region, verses by Johann Peter Hebel, and contemporary dialect with jazz sounds - alongside songs in standard German, other dialects, and languages. They place special emphasis on the beauty and diversity of language, as well as rhythm and South American groove. With "LOSE Ä MOL", Pfleiderer and Bartlett have even created their own genre: "Alemannic Samba" - folklore and tradition in jazzy harmonies and rhythmic worlds.
