Kids in the Park: Fossil Hunting & Identification — Museumspark Rüdersdorf, Rüdersdorf bei Berlin

Nothing is more exciting than a treasure hunt - our treasure chamber is over 250 million years old and brimming with finds. During our geological tours, after a brief introduction, you'll head into the active quarry with an expert guide. Here it's time to roll up your sleeves and keep your eyes peeled. We can't promise you'll find a dinosaur, but fossils are truly everywhere here. Back at the museum park, under the guidance of an instructor, you'll identify your discoveries.

Tour information:
Because the quarry is active, special safety regulations apply. Helmets, goggles, and safety vests are provided by us and must be worn throughout the tour. Sturdy, closed footwear is also mandatory for all participants. Hammers are provided by us. We recommend bringing a cloth bag or backpack to transport your finds. Keep in mind that the terrain is sloped and the activity requires physical fitness. Transport to and from the meeting point is by all-terrain vehicle over rough ground.

Minimum age is 6 years. Children may participate only with an adult. The open quarry area is exposed to weather conditions, so during prolonged dry spells dust may develop. Similarly, during extended rainy periods it can become very muddy and slippery.
