Potsdam, 1985, summer holidays. Sixteen-year-old René spends the summer alone at home with a thousand marks. His mother is dead, his father away on a trip. Over the coming weeks, René and his friends live through a summer they can already feel will never come again.

The boys roam the hot, holiday-emptied city, sit in cafés putting the world to rights, and stumble upon obscure literature. Above all, though, it's about finding the right girl...

Well-known actress Isabell Gerschke and actor-singer Christian Näthe ("Hasenscheisse") perform as a duo. They read from their favourite book, take on different roles where the text calls for it, and sing songs that appear in the novel and matter to its protagonist.
