Cologne guitarist EDDIE KOLD learned his craft in Chicago, the world capital of blues. In this blues mecca he made his mark and played with bands including VANCE KELLY, ZORA YOUNG, and LV BANKS. Tours took him to Montreal Jazz Fest, Winnipeg Blues Fest, and Amsterdam Blues Fest. As probably the only German bluesman, he performed at Chicago Bluesfest 1991 with Zora YOUNG.
Influenced by Little Milton, Hollywood Scott, his father Buddy Scott, Buddy Guy, and Wes Montgomery, he demonstrates stylistic versatility - from traditional Chicago Blues through Soul to Jazz.
What Chicago says about him:
"He's my adopted son from Germany." - Buddy Scott
"This boy is always ready and has his stuff together." - Sir Walter Scott
"I want him to be one of my sexy men. I love you! I will support you" - Nelly Travis (her band is called "Sexy Men")
With his wireless guitar he constantly surprises audiences - playing on his back or on his knees. He's a showman who captivates the crowd. Badische Neuesten Nachrichten writes:
"Eine wunderschön kernig jaulende Bluesgitarre" - need we say more?
LARRY "DOC" WATKINS - The Blues Doctor
From West Virginia, he has been living and working in Germany for about 20 years. In the mid-nineties he started singing in local clubs with great success.
He loves playing with the audience and involving them in the show. His trips into the crowd often lead to singing "battles" between him and the spectators.
Styleistically, WATKINS draws on Chicago role models - Muddy WATERS and the WOLF - gladly singing classics like "Mojo", "I'm Ready", or "Hoochie Coochie Man". He also enjoys rocking the house with blues-rock excursions - "Hey Joe" or "Cold Shot" often appear on the setlist.
The EDDIE KOLD BAND has devoted itself to Southern Soul as celebrated in the blues clubs of Chicago's South and West Side. They add to this robust blues...
