Tratsch im Treppenhaus — Memminger Marionettentheater, Memmingen

The comedy "Tratsch im Treppenhaus" by Jens Exler became well known through Hamburg's Ohnsorg Theater and actress Heidi Kabel. The Memminger Marionettentheater has now staged it for the first time with marionettes - giving it a distinctly Memmingen twist in the process.

The play is set in a Memmingen apartment building of the 1980s, home to a colourful cast of residents: the eccentric retired tax inspector Brummer, the good-natured Frau Knoop, Heike (daughter of a local car dealership owner), Basti (Brummer's nephew), and the blustering landlord Westermayer - a married man with a well-known reputation as a womaniser and master butcher.

At the centre of it all is Frau Schnabel - the supposed "good spirit of the house", who would rather eavesdrop at doors and peer through keyholes. She provides plenty of fuel for conflict and no shortage of mix-ups among the tenants.
