Curth Flatow THE MONEY LIES IN THE BANK Comedy
Adapted by Axel Preuß, Swabian dialect by Monika Hirschle
Work, work, rob banks! This fast-paced Swabian comedy takes your breath away.
Gustav Kühne is completely content with life: he has a loving wife, three wonderful children, and a fulfilling career as a locksmith. His passion, however, is bank robbery! Together with his sons, he has just pulled off another heist. Suddenly the police show up at his door. In desperation, he makes a vow: if he escapes, he will not rob another bank for the next 40 years.
Said and done. But on his eightieth birthday, he wants to try it one more time - and plans, to his sons' dismay, his first bank robbery in four decades.
A cheeky comedy with lovingly drawn characters. It is no wonder that "The Money Lies in the Bank" is one of the most successful plays of the postwar era. Already 55 years ago, the play with Willy Reichert in the lead role was celebrated at Stuttgart's Comedy theatre.
Through Axel Preuß's reworking and Monika Hirschle's Swabian translation, the play gains a fresh, distinctly Swabian charm.
Watch Reinhold Weiser in the role of a lifetime as a cunning bank robber, alongside Jörg Pauly and Stefan Müller-Doriat as his anxious sons.
