Da sind wir aber immer noch

Special programme for the 30th anniversary of MAGDEBURGER ZWICKMÜHLE
with Marion Bach, Heike Ronniger and Hans-Günther Pölitz
MAGDEBURGER ZWICKMÜHLE turns 30. In the old days you'd have called it a company anniversary. Today they say you've been on the market for thirty years - and on that market you get sold, either as a fool or at your market value. And that value has its price. Awards like the "Leipziger Löwenzahn" and the "Cabinet-Preis" - both in Saxony - the "Reinheimer Satirelöwe" in Hesse, and the cabaret prize "Cornichon" in Franconia, the Swiss one... You can look all that up on Wikipedia. But awards, as everyone knows, are a tricky business. The wise philosopher V. Olksmund once said: medals and bombs always hit the wrong people. Whether the praise in our case reached the right ones - nearly a million audience members have had the chance to judge for themselves across 59 programmes and eight thousand performances.
30 years of MAGDEBURGER ZWICKMÜHLE - that's, since its birth on 29 February 1996 at 8 p.m.: three years of Helmut Kohl, seven years of Gerhard Schröder, sixteen years of Angela Merkel, four years of Olaf Scholz, and 42 weeks of Friedrich Merz. Assuming he lasts that long. Chancellors come and go - but MAGDEBURGER ZWICKMÜHLE endures.
Whether Kohl, Merkel, Scholz or Schröder: nothing got better, but rather... as Erich Kästner once put it: "Almost everything has changed, and almost everything has stayed the same." Because not only cabaret, but the problems themselves cry out: "Da sind wir aber immer noch"! The 60th programme is a satirical journey through time - laughing at the past from the vantage point of the present, and hoping there will still be something to laugh about in the future.
