"Kraftvoll" (Part 1) — Ehemalige Kirche Hagen, Hagen a.T.W.

KRAFTVOLL. Musica Viva brings together three exceptional crowd favourites in a special double concert: the Barbican Quartet - winner of the 1st Prize at the ARD Musikwettbewerb 2022 - the Hamburg-based Kaiserquartett, and popular TV star Sebastian Ströbel. Together they trace the arc of the string quartet from its origins to the present day, showing how alive, adaptable and powerful the genre remains.

Part 1 belongs to the internationally acclaimed Barbican Quartet, performing works by Joseph Haydn, the founding father of the form. More than two hundred and fifty years later, the Kaiserquartett picks up the idea of four equal voices and carries it forward with original compositions that sit between classical and pop. Between the musical sets, Sebastian Ströbel reads selected texts, adding another layer to the evening.

Both concerts can be attended separately or experienced as a double bill. Those who choose both will follow an extraordinary thread across two and a half centuries of music history.
