Singer Pur, Opus Klassik laureates, close the Musica Viva 2026 festival with a programme dedicated to women composers across nearly a thousand years of music history.

The second concert in the Musica Viva series combines classical works by Haydn performed by the Barbican Quartet with contemporary compositions by Kaiserquartett, interspersed with readings by actor Sebastian Ströbel.

Musica Viva traces the history of the string quartet across two parts. The Barbican Quartet and Kaiserquartett blend classical tradition with contemporary sound, while actor Sebastian Ströbel reads texts between the pieces.

Hamburg's Ensemble Resonanz and composer-conductor Enno Poppe bring together Bach's solo suites and works by Shaw, Dessner, and Poppe for sixteen string voices at Musica Viva.

Musica Viva explores the remarkable year of 1726, pairing three solo cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach with a cantata by his relative Johann Ludwig Bach, performed by four soloists and the period ensemble L'Arpa festante.

Grammy-winning Estonian ensemble Vox Clamantis opens Musica Viva with a programme stretching from Gregorian chant through Machaut to Arvo Pärt - seven centuries of choral music in one evening.
