MAKELLOS. Singer Pur, an Opus Klassik Prize winner of 2022, brings the curtain down on Musica Viva 2026. One of the world's leading vocal ensembles, this sextet has spent decades setting the bar for tonal refinement, precision and stylistic range. The ensemble's distinctive homogeneity and exceptional expressiveness have established Singer Pur as one of the foremost advocates of vocal music.

With the programme Among Whirlwinds, Musica Viva also makes a deliberate statement. The focus falls on women composers whose music has, for centuries, received far less attention than it deserves. Singer Pur traces an arc spanning nearly a thousand years of music history - from Hildegard von Bingen and the masters of the Renaissance, through Ilse Weber, to contemporary voices such as Anna Thorvaldsdóttir, Joanne Metcalf and Jessica Horsley.

Between sacred music, folk song, pop and contemporary soundscapes, the full breadth of female composition unfolds.
