KARAT

The legendary Berlin band KARAT celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2025 in spectacular fashion. They performed 75 concerts, appeared on major TV shows from Giovanni Zarrelli Show to the Golden Hen awards, and a 90-minute documentary about their history was broadcast in prime time. Their sold-out anniversary cruise to Norway and new album "Hohe Himmel" - their fifteenth - immediately entered the Top 20 of the official charts.

Throughout these celebrations, they recalled every milestone of their decades-long success story: early hits from the late seventies like "König der Welt" and "Über sieben Brücken" (the song Peter Maffay adapted into the biggest hit of his career), later classics such as "Schwanenkönig", "Der blaue Planet" and "Jede Stunde", and more recent songs like "Schlafendes Herz" and "Wir". The anniversary underscored that KARAT is inseparable from German rock and pop music history - the only band from the former East Germany to win gold records in West Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall and to appear on "Wetten dass". The celebration highlighted over twelve million records sold, countless awards from the Golden Europe to the Golden Hen, and above all that KARAT is anything but a relic of the past - a band still driven by passion, musicality and energy.

Claudius Dreilich (vocals), Bernd Römer (guitar), Martin Becker (keyboards), Daniel Bätge (bass) and Heiko Jung (drums) are entering the next chapter after their major anniversary success with renewed determination.
