La Bohème

Puccini's "La Bohème" follows students chasing dreams and falling in love in the cold Parisian winter - caught between youthful idealism and a painfully bare cupboard. Across four musical scenes, Puccini captures the poetry of young city life: lyrical duets, richly textured ensemble passages, and delicate orchestral colours that sketch out different social worlds. Audiences recognised the score's exceptional quality almost immediately after its premiere in 1896.

The performance is sung in Italian with German surtitles. Theater Pforzheim appears as a guest production under the "Städteoper Südwest" initiative, funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg.
