Long, long ago, dragons lived and protected the world from icy cold with the warmth of their fire. But over time, ice began to destroy all living things. Arktos, a terrible Snowman, seeks to cover the world in ice. The old dragon Tyrion wants to prepare his little son Tabaluga for his destined mission - protecting the world. To do this, Tabaluga must find the True Fire, only then can he stop Arktos' plans. Tabaluga receives the support of a magician and sets out on his quest.

On his journey, Tabaluga faces many dangers, such as the spider woman Tarantula, but also discovers beautiful things. He learns that the world, with all its good and evil, is worth saving. But Arktos does not want Tabaluga to fulfill his destiny. He creates a beautiful being from pure ice - the girl Lilli, whose only task is to distract Tabaluga from his search for the True Fire.

Tabaluga falls in love with Lilli, as Arktos planned, but in doing so discovers a great and beautiful power - love.
