What Moves Us? - ChoreoLab TanzSüd 2026
Stadthalle Eislingen, Germany
ChoreoLab TanzSüd enters its eighth edition in 2026, bringing together four choreographers and four dancers for an intensive five-week creative process that culminates in an evening of dance featuring four new contemporary choreographies.
At the heart of ChoreoLab lies a simple challenge: each choreographer works with the same dancers, the same resources, and just six days of rehearsal to create a new work on a shared theme. The process demands courage, trust, quick decisions, and a willingness to embrace the unknown.
This year's theme, "What Moves Us?", invites both artists and audiences to reflect on the forces that drive us. Is it emotion, curiosity, love, ambition, fear, memory, community - or something entirely different? Each choreographer is invited to interpret this question from their own artistic perspective and develop an individual choreographic response that reflects their personal style and working method.
The result is an evening with four distinct choreographic voices - bold, surprising, and full of contrasts. Each work offers a different answer to the same question and opens new perspectives on the diversity and possibilities of contemporary dance.
Since its founding, ChoreoLab has stood for artistic risk-taking and the belief that creativity is often fuelled by constraints. As Igor Stravinsky once said: "The more constraints one imposes, the more one frees oneself."
Four choreographers. Four dancers. Six days. One shared question. "What Moves Us?"
