However, our genius could not refuse an invitation from an old acquaintance, the Baroness von Zuckerberg, to a gala dinner. So here we are, dining at the very moment when you are enjoying a delicious three-course menu in the adjacent restaurant room.

Fleeing from his dinner companion, the endlessly chattering Baroness, the detective barely misses the alleged murder of the host's husband, Baron von Zuckerberg.

Admittedly, his health had seen better days. But to suddenly topple face-first into maultäschle soup is hardly the refined English way to die, even in Swabia. For Sherlock Holmes, however, this otherwise deadly dull evening has taken a turn for the better.

A criminal case awaits - an exceptionally tricky one at that, for the investigation results seemingly rule out any poisoning whatsoever. The interrogation of witnesses, the coroner, and some of the dinner guests leaves many an innocent soul in the room looking rather suspicious.

For him, the solution to the case soon becomes clear. As always, he leaves us fumbling in the dark for a while longer before virtuously unmasking the murderer.
