Eva Christina Zeller has woven a novel from interviews with former lovers. It moves from the Berlin bohemian scene to an island in the South Pacific, where Lena met James among sea lions and penguins, and back to 1980s Germany, where she lost Ulrich - reunions full of recognition, intimacy and shame.

Following the successful autofictional novels Unterm Teppich (2022) and Muttersuchen (2024), Alte Lieben arrives as an almost-trilogy.
