They pioneered Britpop, but never allowed themselves to be confined by it. With every album, Suede confirms they are one of the most important rock bands of our time, and the same applies to "Antidepressants", released last year. The legendary band finally returns to Poland and will perform on July 23rd at the Letnia Scena Progresji in Warsaw.
In the early 90s, when they released the singles "The Drowners", "Metal Mickey" and "Animal Nitrate", they captured the attention of the entire British Isles. Suede quickly became a sensation - Melody Maker hailed them as the best new band in Great Britain, and with the release of their debut album in 1993, they launched one of the most important movements in the history of popular music - Britpop.
Although Suede is often mentioned alongside Blur, Oasis and Pulp, the band with charismatic Brett Anderson at the helm drew inspiration from different sources than the other mentioned bands. Their music was characterized by much greater versatility - you could hear influences from David Bowie's work, and there was no shortage of experimentation that they managed to combine with commercial appeal. This remains true today, as the band confirms with every album.
On July 23rd, Suede will return to our country after a seven-year break and perform at the Letnia Scena Progresji in Warsaw!
