10¹⁷ is the ensemble of saxophonist Colin Stetson, guitarist and vocalist Stian Westerhus, and drummer Erland Dahlen, whose name refers to the enormous energy (10¹⁷ TeV) theoretically needed to create a black hole. It is music arising at the edge of collapse, into which the trio throws itself without hesitation – into a zone of gravitational tension, where compositions and sounds bend, crack and collapse, transforming into something deeply transformative and painfully beautiful.
