SZEPT / Siarhiej Leskiećz – An Incantation in One Act 16+ Rough and tender, prayerful and earthly. The creators take audiences on a journey into the world of Belarusian healers and wise women – women who healed through words, whispered over water, fire, and herbs. The starting point for this performance was a nine-year research project by photographer and anthropologist Siarhiej Leskiećz. His photographs and field notes transformed into a book, an exhibition, and ultimately – a theatrical work. "Whisper" creates a ritual space on stage where each spectator becomes a witness to something sacred and hidden. All five healer characters are played by a single actress, embodying each heroine in turn: elderly women healing fear, purifying with water, protecting homes from lightning, or baptizing the souls of unborn children. The red thread woven throughout the performance becomes simultaneously a sign of protection, a thread of life, and a path between past and present. Minimalist scenography, texts based on documentary accounts, and a richness of sounds create an intense spiritual experience. It is a whisper that cannot be drowned out – because it flows from the depths.
