Magdalena Drab, author and director of "Strefa 0", drew inspiration from a photograph by Tomasz Kaczor titled "Awakening", which accompanied Dorota Borodaj's report on resignation syndrome among refugee children.

"The thought of little Ewa, who like a fairy-tale sleeping princess fell asleep from fear for many months, haunted me for a long time. Conversations with various people about the experience of forced emigration - which erases everything you once were - filled out this picture, and so a drama emerged that traps its characters in a recurring déjà vu and in the boxes of a form," Magdalena Drab explains.
