DECENT PEOPLE
Teatr Nowy im. Izabelli Cywińskiej w Poznaniu, Poznań, Poland
Wyrzykowska's novel, winner of the Françoise Sagan Prize, is a tragicomic portrait of a sated European society - people tormented by phobias, obsessed with image-making and susceptible to media manipulation.
France, 2014. A wealthy family: a mother and three adult children. The unshakeable rhythm of everyday life - marked by successive holidays, gatherings, professional challenges and travels - is disrupted by the sudden appearance of a Stranger. Who is he? What will he demand? What are his intentions? The uncertainty surrounding this mysterious figure becomes a catalyst that reveals the fragility of family bonds and a years-long game of pretence.
