Chełmoński. Painted with Sound
Kielce Cultural Centre, Poland
"Chełmoński. Painted with Sound" is a spectacle combining live music, acrobatic ballet, and animated paintings by Józef Chełmoński. The narration is led by Danuta Stenka - her storytelling, filled with anecdotes about nature and customs, guides the audience through the life and work of a master of Polish realism.
Acrobatic dancers from the Mira-Art Acrobatic Dance Theatre soar above the stage, interpreting the flight of cranes, the dance of birds, the pain of the forest mother during a hunt, and a scene of January Uprising insurgents praying before battle. The music is performed live by the Synesthesia Orchestra - its composer Maciej Muraszko, a Fryderyk Award laureate, is known to the wider public from the projects "Atramentowa" and "Malinowa" created with Stanisława Celińska.
The multimedia scenography is created through animation of nearly 60 paintings and sketches by Chełmoński. It is overseen by Zygmunt Fit, who has been awarded at festivals in Tokyo, Rome, Los Angeles, New York, Seoul, and Toronto, along with animators experienced in working for Hanna Barbera: Maja Reichert-Mąka and Artur Mąka.
