Drive Your Plough Through the Bones of the Dead
Stefan Jaracz Theatre in Łódź, Poland
"Drive Your Plough Through the Bones of the Dead" is a stage adaptation of Olga Tokarczuk's Booker Prize-winning novel - an ecological thriller and parable about responsibility: about who is heard in the world and who is systematically silenced.
At the heart of the story is Janina Duszejko, a recluse, amateur astrologer, and stubborn animal rights advocate. A winter of isolation, a series of mysterious deaths, and a community where hunting rituals intertwine with local politics create the framework of a crime narrative. Yet beneath the surface unfolds an ethical drama: about empathy that transcends species boundaries, about law and lawlessness that do not always align with justice.
The creators of the production view the world through Janina Duszejko's eyes and replace the familiar division of "humans and animals" with a single word: Beings. When language changes, so does what is permitted - and to whom.
The production is intended for viewers aged 15+. The production contains nudity. Duration: 2 hours 50 minutes with one intermission.
