Charkov! Charkov!

"Charkov! Charkov!" is the world premiere of Serhij Zhadan's play in Adam Pomorski's translation, commissioned by the Polish Theatre in Warsaw.

The musical tells a story inspired by the fate of the avant-garde Berezil Theatre and its creator, director-reformer Lesya Kurbas, who worked in Kharkiv from 1925 to 1933. At its heart are conflicts: between the city and the theatre, the director and the stage director, the director and the audience and actors. Kurbas's fate becomes a metaphor for every creator - and perhaps for each of us - fighting for their ideals.
