Art in the Centre / FOOD IN ART — International Congress Centre in Katowice, Katowice

A lecture from the "Art in the Centre" series exploring the theme of food in art - from everyday life and luxury, through desire and symbolism, to tradition and consumerism. The meetings take place at the International Congress Centre in Katowice, within the Culture Zone.

The series format is built on stories about specific artists whose works have entered the world's most important museums - about people immortalized on canvas and in sculpture, about objects, colours, and abstractions that inspire wonder, but also unease or sadness.

Led by: Katarzyna Czapla-Durska - art historian, graduate of art history at the University of Silesia and semiological studies "Symbolism in World Cultures" at the Papal University of John Paul II in Kraków. She conducts classes for various age groups, covering phenomena from the Paleolithic to the present day. She created, among other projects, "Sztukowanie" for seniors, implemented for nearly 10 years in collaboration between the Pedagogical Provincial Library and the Silesian Theatre.

Duration: 1 hour. Recommended for adults / preferred age 16+.
