Art at the Centre / MARC CHAGALL
International Congress Centre in Katowice, Poland
The next lecture in the Art at the Centre series focuses on Marc Chagall - an artist whose works blend reality with dream: avant-garde, vibrant colour, figures soaring into the sky, and underlying it all, a question about art's power in the face of fascism.
Art at the Centre is a series of regular meetings at the International Congress Centre in Katowice, where the lecturer discusses the most celebrated artists, their biographies and works displayed in the world's leading museums - the people behind the canvases and sculptures, the colours and abstractions that captivate, provoke or move us.
Lecturer: Katarzyna Czapla-Durska - art historian, graduate of art history at the University of Silesia and semiological studies "Symbolism in World Cultures" at the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków. She conducts classes for various age groups, covering phenomena from the Paleolithic to the present day. She created the "Sztukowanie" project for seniors, implemented for nearly 10 years in collaboration between the Pedagogical Provincial Library and the Silesian Theatre.
Duration: 1 hour. Recommended for adults / preferred age 16+.
