Art in the Centre / ANDY WARHOL — International Congress Centre in Katowice, Katowice

A lecture from the "Art in the Centre" series dedicated to Andy Warhol - an artist who became a pop art legend during his lifetime. The presentation covers his fascination with mass culture, controversies, business approach to art, and his famous reproduction of products as icons - from Campbell's soup cans to the Marilyn Monroe portrait.

"Art in the Centre" is a lecture series at the International Congress Centre in Katowice, where art historian Katarzyna Czapla-Durska discusses the world's most famous artists - their biographies, works, and the people behind them. The lectures are delivered in an accessible style and combine museum and gallery visits with stories about what paintings, sculptures, and sketches reveal.

The lecturer - Katarzyna Czapla-Durska - is an art historian, graduate of the University of Silesia and semiological studies "Symbolism in World Cultures" at the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków. She conducts classes for various age groups, created the "Artmaking" project for seniors in collaboration with the Pedagogical Provincial Library and the Silesian Theatre, and her lectures are also commissioned as supplementary courses for corporate employees.
