Night of Helvera — Teatr Nowe Formy, Warsaw

An expressionist drama about Carla, a caregiver, and Helvera, her ward with intellectual disability. Helvera is fascinated by fascism not as ideology, but as spectacle, power, and a sense of belonging.

The performance explores several parallel threads: a woman who has already witnessed the collapse of the world; the limits of a caregiver's endurance; violence against people with disabilities; and the body, intimacy, and sexuality in this context. Underlying it all is the desire for security in an age of rising fascism.

The production employs 4D effects: spatial sound, stage fog, lighting effects beyond the stage, and techniques hidden beneath the floor, behind windows, and behind the audience's backs. Actors perform in close contact with the audience. The show contains scenes of violence and blood. A no-shoes zone applies.
