Andrzej Kaleta Exhibition "New Signs' Secret"

Several paintings by Andrzej Kaleta will be presented at his solo exhibition titled "New Signs' Secret". The works employ the language of abstraction - both chromatic and geometric - creating a broad field of interpretation for the viewer.

The opening reception takes place on August 14 at 6:00 PM in the Water Tower Gallery. Admission is free. The exhibition runs until September 4; on other visiting days, a ticket is required: 10 PLN (available at the Oskard box office and online), group ticket 7 PLN.

The artist's work resists easy classification - it is most fully described by the category of mediumistic painting. Like Józef Czapski's work, this concept does not refer to spiritualism or intuitive art, but rather - as with Jerzy Nowosielski - to the way the artist perceives the world and captures reality on canvas in the form of "subtle beings".

Kaleta himself speaks about his work: "It is not 'I' who am the author of my paintings. I receive them in the form of internal, energetic visions and transfer them into the material world. They are a call for the elimination of destructive programs of human minds. They herald the end of the stage of experiencing suffering and subjugation, and tell the story of the beginning of a new reality drawn from the depths of the will to realize everything that serves life."

Andrzej Kaleta graduated from the Department of Art Conservation at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1986. After his studies, he worked at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, and later as a curator of art collections in the homes of Irish aristocracy. In parallel, he developed his painting skills in oil and watercolor techniques, creating among other things copies and pastiches.
