Unsound 2026
International festival of experimental music and digital art featuring artists from around the world.
Ana Roxanne (born Ana Roxanne Recto, 1987) is an American ambient and experimental musician of Filipino descent, raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and now based in New York. Her sound draws on Hindustani vocal training, Catholic choral tradition, and R&B, woven into slow-moving drone textures and intimate field recordings. She broke through with the 2020 Kranky album Because of a Flower - praised by Pitchfork as a meditation on gender, identity, and self-love - and returned in 2026 with Poem 1, a more song-forward record that puts her voice front and centre.
Ana Roxanne released her second full-length album Poem 1 on Kranky on May 1, 2026, receiving widespread critical acclaim.
Bandcamp Daily named Poem 1 its Album of the Day, describing it as a shift toward traditional singer-songwriter territory with minimal instrumentation.
The Guardian reviewed Poem 1, calling it Roxanne's most accessible work yet, with her voice placed front and centre.
Ana Roxanne performed at Cafe du Nord in San Francisco as part of live dates supporting the new album cycle.
Ana Roxanne performed at Glastonbury Festival 2024 in Pilton, England.
