Aquarium (Аквариум) is a Russian rock band founded in Leningrad in 1972 by Boris Grebenshchikov (BG) and Anatoly Gunitsky. One of the earliest and most influential acts in Soviet and Russian rock, the group helped forge a distinct language for Russian-language rock music and has released dozens of studio albums across more than five decades. Since 2022 the band has performed outside Russia under the name BG+, with Grebenshchikov based in London.
Aquarium released a new full-length studio album titled 'Strannye novosti s dalyokoy zvezdy' (Strange News from a Distant Star), the band's first full album since 'Dom Vsekh Svyatykh' in 2022.
BG+ announced three Germany concerts for September 2026: Hamburg (11 Sep), Cologne (13 Sep), and Stuttgart (15 Sep).
Anatoly 'George' Gunitsky, co-founder of Aquarium, died in St. Petersburg on 5 June 2025 at the age of 71.
BG+ released the mini-album '√☀' (Square Root of the Sun), featuring string arrangements by producer Tony Visconti.
Aquarium released the compilation album 'Novy Shelkovy Put' (New Silk Road), recorded in London where Grebenshchikov has been based since 2022.
