Ásgeir (born Ásgeir Trausti Einarsson, 1 July 1992, Laugarbakki) is an Icelandic singer-songwriter whose 2012 debut Dýrð í dauðaþögn - re-released internationally as In the Silence (2014) - became the best-selling debut album in Icelandic history, with roughly one in ten Icelanders owning a copy. His music blends folk, indie-electronic and atmospheric pop, and he sings in both Icelandic and English. In 2025-26 he released his fifth album Julia, the first on which he wrote all lyrics himself.
Ásgeir's fifth album Julia was released in physical formats on February 13, 2026, following its digital release in December 2025.
Atwood Magazine described Julia as Ásgeir's most personal album yet - the first he wrote entirely on his own, across ten tracks.
Ásgeir served as special guest on Eivør's European tour from autumn 2025, with dates across Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Scandinavia and more.
The lead single 'Ferris Wheel' was released in September 2025, ahead of the Julia album.
Ásgeir is scheduled to perform at the Iceland Eclipse Festival on August 12, 2026, celebrating the solar eclipse in Iceland.
