Deicide is an American death metal band from Tampa, Florida, active since 1987. Founded by drummer Steve Asheim and vocalist/bassist Glen Benton, the group built its reputation on ferociously anti-Christian lyrics and a relentlessly aggressive sound. Their self-titled debut (1990) and second album Legion (1992) rank among the best-selling death metal records of the SoundScan era - second only to Cannibal Corpse in overall genre sales. Thirteen studio albums later, the band released Banished by Sin in April 2024 via Reigning Phoenix Music.
