Ephraim Kishon (1924-2005) was an Israeli writer and satirist of Hungarian origin who survived the Holocaust and emigrated to Israel after the war. He wrote in Hebrew, but gained international fame mainly through German translations of his humorous columns and books. His works were translated into dozens of languages, and he received multiple nominations for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
